Meet the MCVR Team

Monarch Career & Vocational Rehabilitation Inc. was founded in 1993 and became incorporated on January 1st, 2014. We are located in various municipalities in the Greater Vancouver/Fraser Valley. Our head office is located in Mission, British Columbia with satellite offices in Surrey, Vancouver and Langley.

Suzanne (Sue) Banyard M.Ed, RCC, MCVP (F)

Sue has many years’ experience assisting individuals who have suffered significant and sudden loss. Sue understands how sometimes certain unexpected events can change your life. Events that are not within one’s control and can have significant impacts on health, family,  financial, emotional and psychological well being. She believes in providing support to individuals who are wanting to seek change and move forward to attain the life they previously had or a life they will be comfortable with.

Sue graduated with a Master’s in Education with a specialty in Psychological Counseling from the University of British Columbia and she is a licensed clinical rehabilitation counselor with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors. She also has a Fellowship/Master’s Certificate, Vocational Professional with the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professional. Her undergraduate degree was completed at the University of Calgary in Community Rehabilitation & Disability Studies. Sue works out of the Mission office and commutes to local municipalities all over the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.

Flora L. M.Ed, RCC

Flora has over seventeen years’ experience working with individuals with diverse backgrounds including people of different ethnic groups and injured workers. She is experienced at administering vocational assessments, conducting job placement, coordinating vocational rehabilitation programs and providing counselling.  She is a social worker from Hong Kong and understands the challenges of adjustment to a new country with different laws, different education and health systems, different languages and different cultural expectations. She understands individuals’ challenges when encountering tough situations. She believes every individual has strengths and can overcome difficulties and even grow when they acquire essential support. She is supportive, caring and patient.

Flora graduated with a Master’s in Education with a specialty in Counseling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and she is a licensed clinical rehabilitation counselor with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Social Work at the City University of Hong Kong in China. She speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Melanie A.  M.Ed, RCC

Melanie has over 10 years’ experience working with individuals experiencing multiple barriers to employment including mental health challenges, chronic illness, poverty, occupational injuries and physical trauma related to motor vehicle accidents. She is experienced with vocational assessments, vocational skill-building, job placement, counselling services, and disability management. Melanie believes that the combination of support and collaboration from treatment teams, employers, and personal communities is key to stability and successful outcomes when participating in a return-to-work program.

Melanie completed a Master’s of Education at the University of British Columbia in Counselling Psychology. She possesses specialized training in Vocational Rehabilitation. Melanie is also registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors as a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Her undergraduate degree was completed at Simon Fraser University with a major in Psychology.

Lynne R. BA. Psych

Lynne has over 25 years experience in the social service, health and educational fields with adults and youth who live with mental and physical disabilities as well as chronic health conditions. She has held a number of employment roles that varied in the tasks performed however, her predominate role was to design and implement strategies for these individuals to gain access to activities in their community (improving their quality of life), performing in educational institutions, and pursuing employment opportunities in the labour market.

Lynne completed a  Bachelor in Psychology at Thomspon River University.
