Assessments

Psychological and Cognitive Assessments

Prior to therapeutic treatment, cognitive and psychological assessments are administered to establish a baseline on how you are managing psychologically/cognitively. These assessments are also administered during the course of treatment to monitor your progress and establish realistic goals.  Treatment plans can be adjusted to address the various symptoms and require regular reviews to determine effectiveness of therapy and/or modalities. Although these assessments can also assist with establishing a diagnosis, we are not qualified to formally diagnose mental health issues but can refer you to a psychologist/psychiatrist and/or speak with your family physician to establish a realistic and individualized treatment plan.  As such, we work closely with psychitrists, psychologists, family physicians, occupational therapists and your insurer. Some of the assessments utilized include the Beck Anxiety/Depression Index, ADHD Scale, Impact of Events Scale (IES-R), World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS), Aggression Questionaire and others.

Transferable Skills Analysis

Transferable skills analysis  (TSA) are conducted primarily to determine the feasibility of a return to the labour market with your existing skill set in a sustainable manner at your current wage rate. During this form of assessment it may be required to identify an occupation that is similiar to your pre-injury occupation to establish the feasibilty of securing a position within your field or a simliar field. If the probability of your resumption of your job duties is low, given your limitations/restrictions,  than a TSA establishes whether upgrading will further assist in work re-entry.

Vocational Assessments

In order to identify a realistic occupational target that will accommodate your limitations, review your skill set, establish your work history, consider your interests, identify your academic experience and include your capabilities, a vocational assessment is sometimes required. This may include aptitude tests,  achievement tests, interest Inventory, personality values, cognitive assessments and a labor market survey.
